AgMachIN TWG meets
The Agricultural Machinery Information Network Technical Working Group (AgMachIN TWG) recently held a meeting on August 25, 2006, at CB Perez Room, PCARRD. The purpose of the meeting is to update the group on the AgMachIN operation, accomplishments and future plans. Engr. Romeo Santiago, the technical coordinator of AgMachIN presented the overview and updates on the webpage. During the discussions the group agreed that contents of the webpage should be reviewed to ensure the integrity, correctness and accuracy of the information presented. The group also saw the need for close communication by creating an e-group among the members of the TWG and this e-group will serve as the venue for sending and receiving their comments, corrections and suggestions.
Another topic related to AgMachIN that were presented during the meeting was the on-going draft house bill authored by Cong. Benasing Macarambon of Lanao del Sur with a title “An act that promotes local manufacture and regulation of agricultural and fishery machinery in the country.” The bill’s article II section 8 states that AgMachIN shall be strengthened to serve as a network of information system, a databank and facility for online registration of agricultural and fishery machinery. The bill was already on the public consultation phase and was sent to different offices for comments. This will be a big development for the network once the bill was enacted.
